Primary Schools Next !!!

I was horrified and deeply angered when I saw the latest idea from Cumbria County Council.
Not only do they want to ruin secondary school education in Barrow but they now want to have a go at our Primary Schools too.

There is a document on the County Council site that details plans on how and why they want to do this. If this is not enough to stir people in Barrow I don't know what is. I wonder where the County Council will target this consultation, if there is to be one.. maybe at 6th form colleges again like the 11-16 consultation information.

How much about this have the schools heads known ?

What is the incentive on this one? Money , Land? I can't believe they are now thinking of messing up our 3-11 year olds education too....

Its about time people woke up to what is going on in this town and started standing up for what they want...Help those that are standing in the May Borough elections, go out and vote against an Academy in Barrow...without that they can't do anything with the primary schools..

I have serious concerns over the county council's ability to provide appropriate educational services for the county's children.

First they want to close secondary schools and build Academies, now they want to re-organise the Primary Schools (with the potential in Barrow that first day Reception Class pupils will share the same grounds as School Leavers).

The council's response to all things school related, appears to be let's re-organise the whole education system - don't they realise that there are many excellent Infant, Junior, Primary and Secondary schools in the county - no surprise that these are generally associated with excellent leadership and excellent teaching.

Some of those involved in educational reorganisation in Cumbria must be getting really excited at the prospect of managing 'big projects' - they should be concentrating on getting the basics right, encouraging good leadership and good teaching - and stop experimenting with children's education.

Why does this not surprise me,half baked ideas about supersize schools when everyone in the know will tell you the best thing for education is smaller class sizes and welcoming schools, not huge buildings to frighten little ones on their early days.

No doubt Moira Swann and her pals coco the clown etc are behind this ridiculous idea. Not content with demolishing the future`s of both older children and secondary teachers these clowns and their ring mistress now want to obliterate an area of education that is actually very good in Barrow. If it wasn`t true it would be a fiction bestseller.

Will the Evening Mail now realise that school closures are just as important and equally devasting to our communities as the threat to the post offices and finally get behind this campaign to stop Cumbria County Council wreaking irepairable damage to the future of Barrovian children? I sincerely hope so!
